Union Sanitary District's 5th Grade School Presentations

  • Union Sanitary District in partnership with the City of Fremont offers FREE, yes FREE 60 minute presentations to fifth grade classrooms explaining ways to prevent pollutants from entering both the sanitary sewer system and the storm drain system, which lead directly to our creeks, streams and the Bay. The presentation utilizes many different teaching styles: interactive discussions, brainstorming, poster and blackboard, video, hands-on experiment, story-telling, and maps. We'll show you how we've taught over 3,000 school children that there is a big difference between the sanitary sewer and the storm drain system!

  • You can also earn money for your classroom by submitting a project to the City of Fremont's Earth Day Fair which will be held on April 27. All participating classrooms earn money! This year school children throughout the Tri-City area were invited to participate in the national River of Words art and poetry contest and a special arrangement has been made with the River of Words to return local entries for display at the Earth Day Fair. If your classroom did not make the River of Words deadline, you can still submit posters with the Earth Day theme, "Make Every Day Earth Day."
